Mark Frauenfelder Doesn't get it

I love BoingBoing, it’s been in my bookmark bar for years. This week I’ve been reading Mark Frauenfelder’s ignorant posting about how the Boston police mis-manged their reaction to the recent bomb hoax.
I’m speaking from fear here, after the adrenaline has subsided.
I’m so angry at Turner, and that’s not going away any time soon.
Mark is a great guy from what I can tell, but he should stick to his MAKE knitting, not terrorist threats, which are clearly out of his league.
Mark obviously has never feared for his life, or had loved ones stuck on subways or bridges while parts of the city came to a standstill.
He’s not had bomb squads on his street looking for suspicious devices (and finding them!).
I would rather have police over-react than not. That’s the world we live in. Maybe 20-something kids find it amusing, they were working at Starbucks or in college classes when the rest of us were freaking out over (at the time unknown) clueless marketing tactics.
I don’t think the guys who threw up the lights should get in trouble as much as the marketing company that withheld information from the authorities. They are, and should, take the brunt of the hit.
Mark, was that ok by you? Why are you supporting Turner? I don’t get it.
Of course Turner should pay restitution. Placing electronic devices on freeway and bridge supports is idiotic if not plain old dumb. You disagree?
It pains me that you would focus on resignation of the Mayor and other officials who were doing their job instead of addressing the underlying issues of doing stupid stunts like this.
Let’s hope all US officials put a plan in place to search Google and Technorati before going out to investigate a bomb scares. That could help reduce the amount of fear and false positives we experienced firsthand this week.
