My second generation iPod died a few weeks ago, the culprit was the well-documented click-of-death syndrome. Today I went out and bought a black 4-gig Ipod Nano, and went the extra mile and picked up an Airport Express. Not much to say about the Nano except it’s tiny and has a color screen and I hope the battery life is better than my last one.
I’ve been re-arranging my (home) office and am fed up with all the cables and cords. Ever since I got my Powerbook with Bluetooth and Wifi I’ve slowly been able to get rid of a few cords here and there, mainly mouse, ethernet and now, thanks to the Airport Express, the printer USB cable and the audio out cable to my speakers.
I moved the printer across the room, futzed with the airport, forgot my WEP password, did a reset, and then all of a sudden I was printing wirelessly. Still have to make sure the Bonjour settings identify my one and only printer as the main printer.
After I set up my new speakers, I plugged in the audio-in cable into the Airport Express and bam, iTunes now pushes audio via Wifi to the AE. One less cable sticking out of the side of the Powerbook. Expensive but worth it.
I still have a few USB cables sticking out the back of the monitor, some cable management to get them off the desk and attached to the LCD stand and I think I’m done for now, back to work!
