My cousin has a blog that I stumbled across recently. Besides expecting a baby with his wife, he’s working on the Kuali Project.

The Kuali Project creates software that provides a comprehensive suite of functionality to serve the financial systems needs of all Carnegie Class institutions. It includes such functional elements as Flexible Chart of Accounts, General Ledger, General Accounting, Accounts Receivable, Capital Asset Management, Pre and Post-Award Administration, Purchasing, Accounts Payable, Cash Receipting and Disbursement, Travel Requisition and Reimbursement, Auxiliary Accounting, Web-based e-Commerce, Budget Construction and Administration. The design is an enhancement of the proven functionality of Indiana University’s Financial Information System. A critical element of the system is the XML-based OneStart© workflow for routing and approval of financial transactions. Extensive data warehousing and decision support tools will be an integral part of the system.

Because he’s smart, young and can’t say no, he’s become the Windows guru in the family. He’s excited he can now fix his mom’s computer using Windows Remote Assistance. Only one family member besides me has a Mac, and she never needs my help because, drumroll, it’s a Mac. My uncle is a uber-geek, but he’s too smart to get involved fixing people’s computers. When confronted with others’ computer woes, he thoughtfully strokes his beard and starts talking about hardware registers until the other person goes away shaking their head.
