I went to FiberFest yesterday to gather some intel, press some flesh and check out the current state of fiber to the home (FTTH). Last time I went to a fiber conference was in 2001 when Corning threw a conference and a big party. Yesterday was like going back in time. Nothing has changed except some of the technology. Nothing.
The exhibitor hall was packed with engineering firms selling all sorts of products and services to make your fiber shine. A few new buzzwords that were as annoying to figure out as they were years ago. Telcom people love their acronyms. Otherwise, it was like 2001 all over again.
