I love Oddcast SitePal. My friend Dave works there and I’ve used the product on and off for years. They even created a custom avatar for me. The problem I’ve had with my SitePal is that it’s not exactly been blog-friendly. Site Pal has announced a new feature; Your avatar can now be inserted in a web page or blog post as an embedded overlay or embedded in-page. You can then set your character to disappear after it’s done talking.
Blog marketing guru’s may recognize the connection between the new SitePal features and What Would Seth Godin Do, the Wordpress plugin that displays a customizable snipped of text to new visitors to your blog.
The only problem I have so far with the new embed feature is that during the publishing process SitePal asks for the url of the page. I don’t know the url yet, because I haven’t finished the blog post yet. It seems like SitePal is really meant for your blog sidebar. I’ve attempted to embed my avatar in this post, leave a comment and let me know if it works for you, and if not, why.
