Skype just quit on me and led me to download a new version. Strange that the new version is required to continue use of Skype. I wonder why they are so adamant about the upgrade? Security issue, new feature, better audio/video codecs?

Skype has tossed down thw gauntlet. In an announcement today, the company announced that SkypeOut – the ability to call any landline or mobile number – is now available free through the end of the year to all U.S. and Canadian customers.
